Limits of educational information
Legal Disclaimer
Lawscope provides general educational information about U.S. law. This page explains important limits on that information and when readers should seek qualified professional help.

1. General information only
Lawscope publishes plain-English information about U.S. legal topics for general educational purposes. Articles may summarize statutes, regulations, court decisions, agency materials, procedures, or commonly used legal concepts. They are written for a broad audience and cannot account for every fact, exception, local rule, later authority, or procedural requirement that may matter in an individual situation.
Content is not a legal service, case evaluation, referral, official government notice, court instruction, or substitute for reviewing current primary authority. A reader remains responsible for confirming the rules and requirements that apply to the reader’s location, facts, legal status, and deadline.
2. No legal advice
Lawscope content does not advise any person to take or avoid a particular action. It does not apply law to a reader’s complete facts, predict how a judge, agency, opposing party, prosecutor, insurer, employer, or other decision-maker will respond, or recommend a legal strategy. Examples are illustrative and do not establish what should happen in another matter.
Legal advice requires consideration of facts, documents, objectives, jurisdiction, applicable authority, professional duties, and often information that cannot responsibly be evaluated through a general publication. Readers should not act or refrain from acting solely because of Lawscope content.
3. No attorney-client relationship
Reading, searching, subscribing to, quoting, linking to, or sharing Lawscope content does not create an attorney-client, fiduciary, advisory, or other professional relationship. Sending a Contact message, correction report, accessibility report, or privacy request also does not create such a relationship and does not make Lawscope or its editors the reader’s lawyer.
No communication through the public website should be treated as confidential or privileged legal communication. Visitors should not send legal secrets, litigation strategy, evidence, government identifiers, complete financial information, health records, passwords, or facts they expect a lawyer to protect as confidential.
4. Jurisdiction and legal changes
Federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial law can differ, overlap, or conflict. Rules can also vary by court, agency, district, municipality, procedural posture, immigration or licensing status, contract, and other circumstances. A discussion of one jurisdiction must not be assumed to describe another.
Statutes, rules, cases, forms, fees, agency guidance, filing systems, and official contact details can change after an article is published or reviewed. A publication or update date identifies Lawscope’s content history; it is not a representation that no later legal or factual development exists.
5. No guarantees
Lawscope aims to use careful research, plain language, visible sources, jurisdictional context, publication dates, and corrections. Even with those practices, Lawscope does not promise that content is complete, error-free, current for every jurisdiction, suitable for a particular purpose, or available without interruption.
Nothing on the site guarantees eligibility, a settlement, dismissal, acquittal, benefit, immigration outcome, license, deadline extension, court ruling, agency decision, financial recovery, or any other result. Past events, examples, or general descriptions do not predict the outcome of another matter.
6. Deadlines and emergencies
Do not rely on Lawscope for a deadline or emergency
Lawscope does not calculate statutes of limitation, notice periods, filing dates, appeal deadlines, hearing dates, response dates, immigration deadlines, court dates, benefit deadlines, or emergency steps.
Missing a deadline can permanently affect rights. Court orders, official notices, dockets, statutes, rules, and advice from a qualified professional should be checked promptly. For immediate danger or an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service or authority. For arrest, removal, eviction, protective-order, custody, or other urgent legal concerns, seek a licensed attorney or authorized local service without waiting for a Lawscope response.
7. External sources and links
Lawscope links to courts, legislatures, agencies, source documents, and other third-party materials to help readers verify context. A link does not mean that Lawscope controls, sponsors, recommends, or guarantees the destination, and it does not endorse every statement, service, or privacy practice found there.
External pages and files can be amended, moved, removed, become inaccessible, or contain errors. Readers should confirm that a source is authentic, current, complete, and applicable before relying on it. Third-party terms, accessibility, security, and privacy practices apply at the destination.
8. Professional help
A reader with a legal question should consult an attorney who is licensed and qualified in the relevant jurisdiction and practice area. Depending on the issue, an authorized immigration representative, tax professional, accountant, mediator, court self-help center, legal-aid organization, regulator, union representative, or other qualified professional may also be appropriate.
Lawscope does not select a professional for the reader, verify a professional’s continuing qualifications, or guarantee availability, cost, scope, or outcome. Readers should independently evaluate credentials, conflicts, engagement terms, fees, and deadlines.
9. Contact and corrections boundary
Lawscope welcomes reports of factual errors, outdated sources, broken links, accessibility barriers, and unclear passages. A useful correction report identifies the article URL, statement at issue, and an authoritative source when available. Editors may investigate and correct publication content under the Editorial Policy.
The Contact channel does not provide legal analysis, interpret documents, assess a case, calculate a deadline, answer a personal legal question, or match a visitor with counsel. Submitting personal facts does not create a duty to respond and should not be used for urgent, confidential, or privileged information.
10. Use and limitations
To the extent permitted by applicable law, visitors use Lawscope and make decisions based on general site content at their own risk. Readers are responsible for obtaining advice, checking primary authority, preserving documents, and meeting requirements that apply to them. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes a right, remedy, duty, or responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
If any part of this disclaimer is found unenforceable, that determination should not affect the remaining parts to the extent they can continue to operate under applicable law. The effective and last-updated dates above identify this version. Material changes will be described in the revision record.
